The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis has taken a bold step towards improving accessibility and transparency with the launch of its official website, gov.kn. This digital platform provides citizens with real-time updates on government policies, achievements, and ongoing initiatives, reinforcing the administration's commitment to openness and accountability.
Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew announced the website on 20th November 2024, during the Roundtable press briefing, calling it a "gateway for citizens to stay informed and engaged."
"Transparency is not just a principle we uphold; it is the foundation of our governance. With gov.kn, citizens can witness the transformative journey we are undertaking together," said Dr. Drew.
Landmark Achievements Highlighted
The launch event also served as an opportunity to spotlight key accomplishments since the Labour Party assumed office in August 2022. Dr. Drew outlined several initiatives that have contributed to economic growth, improved infrastructure, and enhanced social programmes:
- Economic Diversification: The transition from the Citizenship by Investment (CBI) programme to the Sustainable Economic Expansion and Diversification (SEED) initiative underscores a commitment to long-term economic stability. This pivot supports renewable energy, agriculture, and tourism, creating a more resilient and inclusive economy.
- Tourism Development: Investments in tourism infrastructure and the promotion of cultural heritage have positioned St. Kitts and Nevis as a leading global destination. These efforts have not only generated jobs but also strengthened the nation’s economic foundation.
